Mountain bike

I really dislike the bikes they have for rent , I was wondering if I brought my own bike could they store it for the same price of a all day rental of one of their bikes?
Be careful with your bikes!!! My daughter's $500 Jamis was stolen off the bike rack at the Wilderness Lodge on a very busy day in broad daylight last week. We were sitting not far from the rack. We filed a report with Orange Co. Next morning I heard another guest say their son's bike was stolen from the rack at the Ft. Wilderness movie.

Really?! Your plastic bottle shattered while you were "drinking and biking?" 😉 No kidding about the deer -- there are SO many of them on that nature trail. Yep, you guys will have to figure out how to get her bike down there as well... then again, that might keep her from sleeping in!

This time when I go, I hope to get my girlfriends bike down there as well. We didnt have a bike rack that would fit her car last time and could only fit my bike inside the trunk ( barely )!!. I think I enjoy the bike ride the most while Im there. Either the paved road to Fort Wilderness or the nature trail (they dont want you bike riding on the nature trail , at least with their bikes ). I got up at 7 am and was on the trail ( nature) at 7:20 , it was great , no one around but the 14 deer I counted on my way to Fort Wilderness. Oh , girlfriend didnt get up till around 10 am. But the ride was great , even when it started to sprinkle. The next ride was just as great. I put a rum runner in my drink water bottle. It didnt take to well to the ice cubes in it ,shattered like it was glass, half way to the Fort. I smelled like a brewery.....stopped the ride quick. Probably still plastic parts on that trail right now! I had to stop and go back , as we were on out way to ride the horses.

Oops , early June . Pin number was only good till the 12th. I leave the 11th. I would like to see you visit soon!!

Its actually six...............sorry. I went the 2nd year it was open for my first visit. It was my favorite visit as of yet. I really liked the view of the natural growth not yet to its full potential. You could really see river to the pool to the lake clearly next to the beach.

I got a pin code today..........so Im going back in June . Woo hoo!! 5 nights at the Lodge . Its not as long as last time but its still the lodge.

Wow, Andrew. That's amazing! I'm so thrilled to hear about all the wonderful "repayments" you were given. You deserved them all! Thank you again for keeping us all updated on your endeavor to figure out whether or not you could store your bike at the Lodge -- that's a great piece of news. I'm sorry your holiday trip is over, though! Any ideas as to when you guys will be headed back?

Well Im back. DANG IT.........Well my mountain bike issue went as smooth as silk. I checked it with Bell services and checked it when I wished. I did tip every time they retreieved it ( $1) , It was great having my bike there, it was so much more relaxing to me. I loved biking at 7 am with the deer still out on my way to Fort Wilderness and back. I did get the feeling from one bell hop that I needed to keep it in my room. They felt it was in the way in the storage room. They got got over it.......................................................................................................... As for the view , it was exactly what I wanted ( i requested) high up and over looking the waterfall north side.GREAT. As for my previous post about the issue with payement........... It took a bit of doing. I stated that the manager would leave "something at the front desk" was a little more involved. ....They forgot..Or someone dropped the ball. Well we had to call home to the cat sitter to get the resort managers name and direct number. We called her and asked what was suppose to be left at the front desk..........she apologized alot for someone under screwed up. At that moment she gave us a 200 dollar credit for anything on the property. WOW!!!!!! Well we went to the parks the next day to come back to also flowers in our room (60 dollar value I looked it up). dISNEY PIXIE DUST WAS IN FULL EFFECT. We also stayed in the polynesian resort for the first night with magic too. The reason for staying there was too get to the wilderness lodge to get the room I wanted. We got to poly late and were upgraded to the concierge level theme park view in Hawaii...............sweet. Free booze and scallops. WOW!!!! Cant wait to go..I didnt plan on going in 2010 but now

Thank you ! We are getting excited !! Everything seems to be in order (mostly my ADR's).

11/11/2009 2:39 am

That's a great question! I have no idea! I'll put it up on the reader questions page. As for taking a guess, I don't see why they wouldn't store it for you unless they cite some sort of liability issues (if it gets stolen, it could be their fault, etc..).

I double posted a mispell...........DECEMBER......... dang

08/19/2009 3:20 am

yep , at the desk in cecember. Two different people called and said they would do someting.

08/19/2009 3:14 am

Disney has called three times to make sure we have received our money back. Two different assistants called. I was impressed with the "concern". the last call was Thursday , telliing us again they are going to leave something at the front desk for our troubles. My girlfriend says probably gift card ,I'm leaning toward luggage tag...........lol! Its going to eat up for the next several months wondering. I'm really just hoping I get my courtyard view ( geyser) i paid for and wanted .............not villa pool view. Cross your fingers everyone reading !! Sorry for going off topic again in the bike forum.

08/23/2009 3:46 am

Very interesting, indeed! I have no idea what it could be. My only guess would be fastpasses, a gift card, or something like that. They're going to leave it at the front desk during your trip in December?

I do have question still. Its not bike related. I have had trouble with the money side of disney. I paid for a room only courtyard view and later got a code for a courtyard view 400 dollars cheaper. Disney owes me 233 dollars credit. Ive spent 5 weeks getting the run around from them. I finally got head way to get the credit back to my bank account. We sent a letter last week to them about the problems weve had on the phone with their people. Today we received two phone calls , one from their money people(sorry not sure what the title was for them) the other was from a assistant to operations manager. Both (My girlfriend took the call , this is what she reported to me) apologized emphatically. Each said indepentally that they would leave something at the front desk for us that we could use. ..............Um..............Im not sure I have any idea what they are talking about, what could it be? For are troubles.?

08/19/2009 2:11 am

Well as for the bikes they have.......I like having a gear selection (they dont have it), Um they also look like girl bikes to me ...lol(sorry), not very comfortable either to me (im 6"1", they seemed little short from what Im used to.) I dont recall seeing the buddy cars , but I wasnt really looking either(sorry). Im going to try and send the only pic I have of the bikes to this site. Its a front view though. As for dinner reservations, its still set at 90 days out till October,(then back to 180). So nope, but I will try for character meal in EPCOT CALLED Garden grill. I also will do Artist Point in my home away from home. I might try for Coral Reef as well (good memories from there). Mostly will play it by ear, can usually get in anywhere that time of year if you call in the morning. except cinderellas table(ex king stephans). I hope everyone has a "cough" magical time......

Good info on the bikes. Im wondering why you dont like the bikes. Ill be there with my kids in 27 days and was wondering about that. Do they have any kids buddy cars that can be towed behind the bikes for our 3 year old?

08/18/2009 3:30 am

Hi DZoo! As far as I know, they do NOT have buddy cars that can be towed (if you find differently, let us know!). They have kids' bikes, but not 3-yr-old sized. You can always do a surrey bike, but that doesn't offer "real" biking experience out on the roads. 27 days is coming up soon! How many kiddos do you have? Have you ever stayed at the Lodge? Hi, Ill be going to the Wilderness Lodge In December. Dates are from the 6th through the 12th. Courtyard view with bunkbeds ( better deal with the bunkbeds). Are you going soon?

08/14/2009 2:21 am

Hey Andrew! We're going to Disney in September/October, but won't be at the Lodge 🙁 Maybe we'll be able to sneak in a winter trip -- I love staying there in January-February! Your dates sound perfect! Christmas at Wilderness Lodge is SO beautiful. And it sounds like a great time for biking as well; the weather is perfect that time of year. If you happen to take any photos, we'd love to see them! You can reach me at [email protected] or through the "contact us" form on this website. Have you started to plan your dining yet? Timberline

I need to learn to reread my typing. Mispell too much!

Just a little update to the bike thing. I talked to the bee services staff and said I/we may store our bikes in there luggage storage room. Instead of locking them up outside in the bike rack. We could access them any time just by asking them to get them. The other option was (by the front desk) was just keep them in the room. i didnt care for that idea of transpoting my bike through the hallways. Seemed a little trashy to me. They said paople do it all the time.

07/23/2009 11:48 pm

Great news! I guess you could request a room on the ground floor near an external doorway -- that way you wouldn't have far to go with your bike. However, the rooms at WL are a bit small; I wouldn't want to house ourselves AND our bikes in the room necessarily. Might get cramped. I like the bell services option best!

Thanks, any help would be great.

I finally found out about using your own bike. I received a e-mail that reads as : Dear Andrew, Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort. You are welcome to bring your own bike. There is a bike rack available to store your bike. We hope this information is helpful. If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us. Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence. Sincerely, Gail Williams WDW Online Communications
